Destanee Aiava has been the talk of the town in Melbourne for the last few days. For the first time in her career, she has reached the second round of a Grand Slam event, and guess what? She has been in the headlines for not only her tennis, but she has also been turning heads with her bold and styling fashion choices. Right from qualifying for the main draw of the 2025 AO, she sported Maria Sharapova’s iconic 2012 US Open outfit, Ana Ivanovic’s 2010 outfit, and Caroline Wonziacki’s 2013 attire. So, she has been trying these replicas in her last few matches. What is her outfit for her second-round match against Danielle Collins, though?

Well, according to various reports, Destanee Aiava has opted for Maria Sharapova’s 2011 French Open Nike look for this match. In her first match, she wore the pink-and-grey dress which was similar to Sharapova’s outfit at the 2012 US Open. Then the color changed to pink and purple in her next match. She has been trying various colors and combinations at the ‘Melbourne Slam’.

In her first-round match against Belgium’s Greet Minnen, she was seen donning a navy, cobalt, and sky blue Adidas x Stella McCartney dress. Caroline Wozniacki wore a similar dress during the 2013 US Open. Even her yellow-vintage outfit in the second round of the 2025 AO looks quite stunning!

Interestingly, all these outfits were worn on the court even before she was even a teenager. How did she manage to find all of these, though? Well, according to Destanee Aiava, “I’ve found them on eBay—for double the price that they were originally for. But yeah, I just like looking—on Depop, Facebook Marketplace, eBay—to find the old, vintage outfits that I loved when I was little.” Fashion is a form of self-expression and Destanee Aiava seems to be loving going against the current trend with her dressing choices. Now, this leads us to the next question— what is the real reason behind her unique picks?

I think that would be cool.” According to Destanee Aiava, wearing outfits that she’s confident in is crucial to performing well.

Her fashion choices have been in the limelight in Melbourne over the last few days and highlighting her incredible fashion sense she said, “I feel like the saying ‘look good, play good’ is very true. So that’s something that I like to play a part in my tennis. I like to accessorize as well, like matching my wristband colors to my dresses. I think it really is important.

However, for the time being, she has now set a goal to secure a sponsorship deal with a sportswear brand, but Destanee Aiava is also a bit concerned about that. Why, though? Well, she believes that if that happens she’ll have to wear the same opponents as others. Well, all know Destanee Aiava is a big fan of Serena Williams, but has she ever tried some Serena-inspired dresses yet? “I don’t think I’ve worn a Serena fit yet. They are quite hard to find and quite expensive,” said the rising star.

Destanee Aiava recently received quite a lot of criticism and trolls on social media for wearing a $180 million worth Maria Sharapova’s US Open outfit. However, shortly after that, we saw her taking her jibe at all the courts who commented negatively regarding her physical appearance. So, just like her incredible tennis, even her outfits have made a massive roar at the 2025 AO. How far do you think she can reach in the mega event?
