Serena Williams‘ husband Alexis Ohanian knows a thing or two about movies. He might be among the world’s most successful tech investors and entrepreneurs right now, but he makes sure that he’s up to date with all the ins and outs of the film industry. Recently, Ohanian headed to Instagram to congratulate the Disney movie ‘The Little Mermaid’. Prior to the movie’s release, there were several skeptics who suggested that the movie would flop at the box office. However, now that the movie’s out, it’s shattering several box-office records. It gave the Reddit cofounder the opportunity to get one back at the cynics who berated the movie before its release.
Along with taking a shot at the critics, Ohanian also revealed that his immediate family loved the movie after they saw it in its entirety.

Following the release of the trailer of ‘The Little Mermaid’, critics immediately expressed their doubts regarding the movie. According to most of them, the movie was destined to fail at the box office. However, Ohanian believed otherwise. Now that the movie’s out, it seems like Ohanian’s predictions were much more accurate than those that came from experienced film critics. The movie’s first 4-day weekend earned it almost a whopping $121 million.
In an Instagram story, Ohanian seemed jubilant at the movie’s commercial success following its release. He wrote, “Where’s everyone who said this would flop?” The successful tech investor also shared with his followers how much his family loved the movie. “@olympiaohanian and the whole family loved it.”
Ohanian also credited actress Halle Bailey for her astounding singing. “@hallebailey crushed the singing too”, wrote Ohanian.

Ohanian’s accurate predictions may be a telltale sign of a remake of a 1985 classic
In the world of tech and business, Ohanian has made quite the name for himself when it comes to predicting accurate outcomes. Even though Ohanian is far removed from the world of films, his knack for getting things right still stands true.
Recently, Ohanian walked down memory lane to 1985. It was the year that saw Steven Spielberg’s ‘The Color Purple’ hitting the silver screen. The movie proved to be an incredible success, both commercially and critically. However, strangely, Steven Spielberg didn’t make it to the final list of nominations for the ‘Best Director’ award. According to Ohanian, the remake, which Oprah Winfrey is backing, will win big at the Oscars.
