The British tennis player has already missed an exhibition event, the Eisenhower Cup, because of her injury struggles this season. Emma Raducanu picked up a right wrist injury in the previous season, which also forced her to pull out of the Billie Jean King Cup. Now, her issues with her wrist have begun “to flare up” again this season before the highly anticipated tournament, the BNP Paribas Open.

The former US Open champion was spotted practicing on the courts in California with her wrists strapped to prevent any further issues. Taking about the same, Raducanu said that she is doing her best to be as cautious as possible as the problem from the previous season has started to flare back up.
The 20-year-old WTA star has already had a disappointing start to this season as she missed out on other important tournaments like the ATX Open in Austin, Texas. It was her illness that has been acting as a barrier to her preparation for the Indian Wells Masters. Speaking of it, Raducanu said, “When it rains, it pours. This and the infection – it’s obviously a challenge.”

Some key players are not there in this season’s Indian Wells Open
The fans have already received a number of upsetting withdrawal news including the Spanish tennis great, Rafael Nadal. The 22 singles Grand Slam champion will not be there in California because of the iliopsoas injury that he picked up in the Australian Open.
Along with Nadal, his arch-rival, Novak Djokovic, has also been forced to pull out of the highly anticipated event because of his unvaccinated status. It is clear to say that the fans will be missing a number of great tennis players during this season’s BNP Paribas Open.
