On the Centre, Court was playing Serena Wiliams against Kaja Juvan in the second round. While fans enjoyed the thrilling action of Serena’s dominance, it became even more special with the presence of Meghan Markle in the stands.?

On 4th July 2019, Markel an American citizen by birth opted to?celebrate?American Independence Day with her fellow countrywoman, Serena Williams. The Dutchess of Sussex headed to the Centre Court of Wimbledon along with two of her university friends. In a white blazer and a black T-shirt, Markle enjoyed the three-set thriller, as Williams outplayed Juvan to move ahead in the tournament.

This wasn’t the first time that Megan was in the Wimbledon stands to cheer for her friend, Williams. Going a year further back, in 2018, Megan also extended her support for Williams during the women’s singles finals. However, unlike in 2019, in 2018, she was accompanied by her sister-in-law, Kate Middleton.

Williams at the 2018 Wimbledon

Over the years,?Serena Williams?has dominated the women’s tour like no other player. Similar was the case at the 2018 and 2019 Wimbledon. Despite being the World No. 181 during that time, Williams kicked off her 2018 Wimbledon campaign as the 25th seed. Being in a strong position, she reached the quarterfinals without dropping a set. Having an impressive performance in the quarterfinals and the semifinals, she cruised to the finals. However, her impressive run came to a halt with a final loss to German sensation Angelique Kerber.

Eyeing to convert the runner up title to the champion title, Williams entered the 2019 Wimbledon as the 11th seed. Having a similar sight to that of 2018, Williams sailed over her opponents to reach the finals. However, similar to the 2018 finals, her run was again halted in the last match. This time by the then World No. 7, Simona Halep.
