There is only one Serena Williams. Everything about the 23 times Grand Slam champion is unique, including her pregnancy. While many to-be mothers crave mostly tasty but unhealthy food, she demanded greens. Well, in her defense, she was asked to do so.

Williams delivered her firstborn in 2017. She went through a critical procedure during labor because of the surfacing of blood clots in her lungs. Though her healthy cravings, which were fulfilled by Ohanian in a way, kept Olympia unharmed and healthy.

Williams’ devotion to vegetables during pregnancy

Williams, after setting a brilliant example of power by winning the Australian Open while pregnant, showed her dedication to her child. In July of that year, during an interview, she said. “I have just been trying to eat healthy and stay fit and definitely eating healthier than I normally do.”

Thereafter, she explained how she was really into veggies and added, “It’s pretty backwards.” This claim of her received a stamp when her husband shared a clip of his midnight supermarket visit. “It’s Friday night. I am at Publix going shopping because my finance has cravings.” He said.

“I was told there would be cravings. I was not told there would be these zucchini, asparagus and what’s this one called again… Artichoke.” Ohanian with a bag full of greens added. “Really, these are her cravings. It’s amazing.

Ohanian and Williams welcomed their daughter Olympia on September 1st, 2017. Currently, she is five-year-old and is her father’s best friend and her mother’s biggest cheerleader.

The seven times Wimbledon champion determined to make a comeback as early as possible rejoined the circuit in March 2018. She started her season with the summer doubles.

Because of the gap, Serena suffered a round of 32 defeat against her elder sister Venus in Indian Wells and opening-round dismissal in Miami. Following that, a lingering Achilles injury made her withdraw from the French Open.

However, in the grass swing, she bounced back successfully. The former world no.1 fought for the singles title on the grass courts of the Wimbledon Championships. Also, she made up to the finals of the American majors.
