The sporting world is known to get tricky when it comes to dating, especially when two players from the same sport are romantically linked. Unfortunately, Ajla Tomljanovic wasn’t spared from this. Tomljanovic, who is a Croatian-born Australian tennis professional, has suffered quite a few ups and downs in her love life.

The 31-year-old made waves after downing 23-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams in the second round of the 2022 US Open on her way to the event’s semifinal. The Aussie has always carried her tenacious personality to fight through on-court challenges. However, she was also accompanied off the court by her former partner Matteo Berrettini for a little over two years. Although there is very limited information surrounding the duo’s relationship, it is confirmed that they parted ways in 2022.

Since then, it is believed that the Aussie star is single and not romantically involved with anyone. In 2022, the pair’s breakup was confirmed by Berrettini during a post-match presser at the season’s Wimbledon Championships. In his statement, the Italian spoke about spending more time with loved ones during his injury hiatus and further claimed to be ‘not looking for love’. “Yeah, I’m single but it’s not like something that I am looking for, it’s not that I’m waking up and have to find love. I’m spending more time with my team. I spent a lot of time with my family when I was injured.” Later, Berrettini found love with Italian television presenter, Melissa Satta. Meanwhile, the Aussie has refrained from commenting on their split.

For the unversed, the couple first started dating in 2019 and were later featured in an episode of Netflix’s ‘Point Break’. But, surprisingly, Berrettini isn’t the only tennis star the former World No. 32 has dated in the past.

The world is a small place indeed. And the same can be seen in the case of Tomljanovic. The 31-year-old was linked with yet another tennis professional during her time on Tour. To much surprise, her partner was Nick Kyrgios, one of the most controversial figures of the sport.

The pair split in 2017 after dating for a little over two years. The power couple was often witnessed hitting the court for practice sessions together. They also joined forces for a mixed doubles showdown during the 2016 Australian Open. But, their relationship reportedly went sour following the release of snapshots that captured Kyrgios exiting a London nightclub alongside two women in early 2017. It is worth noting that the 2022 SW19 runner-up is currently dating influencer Costeen Hatzi.

While it is uncertain whether Tomljanovic has found love since her last try at dating went up in flames, she has occupied herself with better tasks. The Aussie is scheduled to compete in the Paris Olympics. She is set to square off against Team USA’s Coco Gauff in the quadrennial event’s opener on Sunday, July 28.
