Martina Navratilova is one of the finest tennis players of all time. And adding another honor to the long list of her achievements is the Spirit of Katharine Hepburn Award.
The 65-year-old had a four-decade-long career with 18 Grand Slam singles titles; and 31 Grand Slam doubles titles, which inspired many to take up the game. Being at the top of the WTA rankings for a record 332 weeks, which is second only to Steffi Graf, the legend is one of the three to have accomplished a career Grand Slam in singles.

Recently the 65-year-old took to her Twitter account to show her gratitude for being honored with the award. Following her retirement, the legend has donned an expert’s hat. Currently, she works as a tennis analyst and a commentator.
Martina Navratilova receives Spirit of Katharine Hepburn Award
Recently, Martina Navratilova received the 7th annual Spirit of Katharine Hepburn Award. Kate gives the award to an individual who embodies the bold spirit, fierce independence, and distinctive character of the legendary actress.
Replying to the Twitter announcement, the 18-time Grand Slam champion expressed her gratitude.

Apart from her achievements in tennis, the 65-year-old also worked for social rights. She is a global icon for LGBTQ rights. Additionally, Navratilova is involved with various charities funding and working for animal rights, underprivileged children, LGBTQ rights, and the welfare of the environment.
Navratilova was a fierce competitor and a brave fighter throughout her career. With her different initiatives, she still keeps contributing to society. As a strong woman with an exemplary career and her service to society, she truly deserves the award.
Navratilova tests positive for covid-19
Martina Navratilova was all set to attend the special ceremony at Wimbledon 2022. However, she was unable to make it after testing positive for covid-19. A record nine-time Wimbledon champion, Navratilova did her best on the grass court.

On Sunday, a special ceremony took place in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Centre Court. A record eight-time men’s Wimbledon champion, Roger Federer, was also present for the event.
