Back in 2010, Navratilova overcame the risk of a deadly disease, breast cancer. Her good friend Chris Evert stood firm by her side in the challenging times. Later, when the 65-year-old successfully won her battle against cancer, a special TV feature was made on her life and career. Here’s an interesting part from the same, where Evert and Navratilova describe their first meeting.
Chris Evert’s first meeting with Martina Navratilova
Back in 1973, Chris Evert faced Navratilova for the first time in her career. Recalling the day, the 67-year-old said, “I remember she was fat. She was very emotional on the court, whining if she didn’t feel she was playing well. But I remember thinking, if she loses weight, we’re all in trouble.”

Notably, Chris Evert was already a famous player by then and Navratilova wanted to make a mark against her.
“My goal was for her to remember my name,” Navratilova said. Eventually, not only Evert, but in fact, the entire world remembers and cherishes their rivalry.
Navratilova shuts down a hater on twitter
Since taking up the job of commentator, the 65-year-old is a constant target of haters and trolls on social media. One such hater called out the American for not siding with Novak Djokovic at the time of his Australian Open fiasco.
Notably, earlier this year, Novak Djokovic controversially left Australia and did not feature in this year’s Australian Open. While many experts believe that it was unfair to the Serb, a few sided with the Australian Government’s decision. Digging out her comment from that time, a Djokovic fan attacked Navratilova about the same.

The American gave a befitting reply to the hater.
“Apparently, Novak and I can agree to disagree, but you can’t. Nice hyperbole though. As if I had anything to do Australian rules and laws. But you just go on hating, I hope it makes you feel better about yourself,” she said.
