King took to her Twitter account to point out the severity of punishment being too high for the athlete. Further, the tennis legend appealed for bringing her back home.

“A Russian court has denied Brittney Griner’s appeal. She will begin her nine-year prison sentence on dr*g charges. The U.S. government has declared her wrongfully detained.”
