‘We Had Hardly Anything’- American Tennis Hall of Famer Gets Real While Addressing Serena Williams’ $250 Million Fortune

The tennis veteran Billie Jean King knows it all. The American tennis legend recently talked about why counting money earned by female tennis players should not be considered a luxury as compared to the male tennis player. Not only that, she also listed the 23-time Grand Slam champion, Serena Williams example. And how she has found a way to give back to society with all the luxury she created for herself. 

Last year, the 20-year-old British tennis player Emma Raducanu received a lot of backlash. When she wore tiffany earrings to the opening ceremony of the Wimbledon championship. And recently, the 79-year-old tennis veteran stood in support of how making money was also a part of the dream when they started the original 9 other than just competing at an equal level. 

Billie Jean King sets Serena Williams as an example

In a recent conversation with the Oxford Union, the former world number one talked about how there is no problem in spending money on whatever the women tennis player wants. As this is something she wanted to do when she was a tennis player. However, while shedding light on the same money-related problem. The 12-time Grand Slam champion shared an obvious example of the $250 Million tennis star. And listed how making an enormous sum of money doesn’t matter unless and until it helps others.

She said, “I’ll give you an idea. You know that what we, did you know we had hardly anything but Serena Williams made almost 100 million on the court hundreds of millions off the court? But she has an investment company. Serene Investments, that she’s going to give back and try to help women and particularly women of color. So, I think it’s great because if she didn’t have that money like our generation.”

The former whole number one also discussed how they could be able to aid people in the same way that the younger generation is doing with their money. The veteran tennis player, though, has previously discussed how the 41-year-old American tennis star was fulfilling her goal.

King is proud of the way Williams is living her dream 

The American tennis player literally put up a fight. So, that the future generation might live comfortably in their dreams of becoming tennis stars. The 12-time Grand Slam champion discussed last year how the newly retired American tennis great is fulfilling the dream of many tennis players just like her.
