18-year-old Emma Raducanu made history after lifting the US Open 2021 trophy. Not only did she become the first-ever qualifier to win a Grand Slam, but she also did that without dropping a set. For all of this, the teenager expressed gratitude towards the US Open for making it possible for her.
In the final against 19-year-old Leylah Fernandez, Raducanu spent more than one hour and 25 minutes on court. Funnily enough, it was the longest time she needed to seal a victory in her last three weeks in New York.

All the more, the final battle did not end without a touch of drama. During the climax of the second set, Raducanu bled her left leg and got a medical time-out. Notably, it did not go well with Fernandez; however, in the end, it was all smiles between the two.

Undeniably, the full-house New York crowd made their presence felt in every single match. They cheered, supported, and even lifted players during crucial moments. Without them, such an extraordinary event would not have been possible.
Accordingly, Raducanu made a video for everyone at the US Open and thanked them earnestly. Indeed, the three weeks would be a memory she would cherish lifelong.
In the video, she said, “Hey everyone at the US Open, thank you so much for all your support over the last three weeks. And for coming to the match today. I really really appreciate it. You really got me through some tough moments, so thank you so much. I hope to see you again here soon.”
