The video above describes Sharapova’s journey of becoming one of the wealthiest athletes. She had a talent for tennis at a very young age, and hence, her parents shifted to the United States for her career. It was clearly a great decision as the Russian went on to win 36 titles and earned $39 million in prize money.
This is clearly a lot, but it’s only a fraction of Sharapova’s wealth. The rest has been made through endorsements and business ventures, and her first ones were with Nike and Prince. She went on to secure many more such endorsements from TAG Heuer, Canon, Motorola and others.
In addition to this, the former World No. 1 also started her own candy brand – Sugarpova in 2012. In 2019, it was reported that the company had earned $20 million in sales, which is absolutely amazing. Moreover, the Russian also owns 10% of the sunscreen company Supergoop.
