Serena Williams is the second-highest paid female athlete in the world. Endorsing some of the world’s biggest brands, her 2021 earnings were $45.9 million. Out of those, only $0.9 million came from her appearances on court; the rest from endorsements and sponsorships. 

Recently, the beer brand Michelob Ultra released a new commercial. The advertisement titled ‘Welcome to Superior Bowl,’ features Serena Williams, Alex Morgan, and actor Steve Buscemi, among other prominent athletes.

The advertisement is a part of Michelob Ultra’s commitment to promoting women in professional sports. 

Serena features in Super Bowl inspired advertisement

The advertisement is set in a classic bowling alley named “Superior Bowl.” It starts with actor Steve Buscemi serving a Michelob Ultra beer along with a pair of bowling shoes to NFL star Peyton Manning. As he proceeds towards the lane, he is joined by other athletes like soccer player Alex Morgan, basketballers Jimmy Butler & Nneka Ogwumike, and golfer Brooks Koepka.

All the athletes hit a strike in their lanes and Alex Morgan even does her signature tea sipping celebration. However, time seems to stop when Serena Williams enters in a purple jumpsuit with her name embroidered on it. Looking at her, Buscemi says, “Game time.” The advertisement ends with a caption which says, It’s only worth it if you enjoy it.’

Opening up on the beer brand, Serena said, “This year, Michelob Ultra made a commitment to supporting gender equality in sports. And it was so great to see that come into fruition when they decided to put that commitment to action by having just as many female athletes in this Super Bowl ad as they had male athletes.”

Serena Williams and her endorsements

As per Forbes, Serena Williams has nearly 20 corporate partners. Through Serena Ventures, the former World No. 1 has invested in 66 startups till now. In 2018, she also launched her direct-to-consumer clothing line ‘S by Serena’. 3 years later, in 2021, Serena signed a first-look TV deal with Amazon.

In the same year, the 23-time Grand Slam winner also became one of the prominent investors in the NFT platform Bitski.

On the endorsement front, Serena has some of the biggest brands attached to her name. She has been working with Wilson Sporting Goods and Nike for the longest time in her tennis career. Apart from these two, Gucci, Procter & Gamble, Ford Motors, Subway, Gatorade, and JP Morgan are some of the many brands endorsed by the 40-year-old.
