Serena Williams took on Russian challenger Anastasia Potapova in the third round at the Australian Open 2021 and got past the challenge with ease. Although the win was comfortable, Potapova forced Serena to play a tie-breaker in the first set.
Potapova then broke Serena’s serve in the first game of the second set, which motivated the 23-time Grand Slam champion to assert her dominance. She retaliated during Potapova’s first service game of the second set initiating an astounding rally.
Serena returned Potapova’s serve with force, which then urged the Russian teenager to respond in the like. Subsequently, both players began meeting the ball wonderfully and created a 20-shot rally. The prospect seemingly amused Serena.

In fact, Serena Williams was made to stretch all over the court for a single point, and stretch she did. However, the veteran saw the light side of the rally and was all smiles after getting the elusive point through an unforced error from Potapova.
Potapova had the point in her bag but threw it away by mistiming the shot. It was agony for Potapova, but jubilation for Serena as she carried the momentum to break her opponent’s serve in that game.
Serena also dropped a hint about her future at the Australian Open
Serena Williams is the most revered athlete in the women’s circuit. She’s been competing for more than 2 decades, and it is no easy feat. Moreover, the 39-year-old is making her 20th appearance at the Australian Open this year, which is an incredible feat indeed.
