Coming to Swiatek, the Polish star managed to get past all her previous opponents in straight sets in Melbourne. Considered one of the favorites to win the title, Swiatek defeated the likes of Rebecca Peterson and Daria Kasatkina to reach the quarter-finals.
Iga made a positive start to her 2022 WTA campaign as she reached the semi-finals at the Adelaide International. Having entered the tournament as a defending champion, Swiatek lost to Ashleigh Barty in the semi-finals in straight sets.
