World No.1 Ashleigh Barty defeated Karolina Pliskova in three sets to clinch her maiden Wimbledon Championships title. Even though she lost a close tie-breaker in the second set, she dominated the entire match and never gave any chance to Pliskova to bounce back in the remaining two sets. The final scoreline of the match was 6-3, 6(4)-7(7), 6-3. This is Barty’s second Grand Slam title after her French Open 2021 triumph.
After winning the title, Barty met with tennis legends and her idols, Billie Jean King and Martina Navratilova, who gave her a warm welcome. Both Jean King and Navratilova were there to watch the match and definitely appreciated Barty after she won the Wimbledon Championships 2021 title.

However, the second set proved to be a little bit difficult for her. Although she established an early lead, she failed to capitalize on it- giving Pliskova the chance to strike back. As a result, the set reached the tie-breaker where Barty lost after playing some really poor and lose shots.
The final set could have gone either way, especially when Karolina Pliskova had the momentum with her. However, Barty played her best tennis, didn’t hit too many unforced errors, and emerged as the champion of the Wimbledon Championships 2021.
