Eugenie Bouchard has been struggling with a shoulder injury since March. The Canadian tore her subscapularis in March at Monterrey Open during the first round. It came at an especially unfortunate time as she looked to be rediscovering some form, having reached the final of her previous tournament, the Abierto Zapopan in Guadalajara. Since March, Genie hasn’t featured on the WTA Tour.
In a recent Instagram story, she revealed her experience of undergoing a surgery for that injury.

Bouchard’s shoulder surgery
The Canadian, Eugenie Bouchard, is still in rehabilitation after her surgery in June this year. Recently, in an Instagram “ask me anything” session, the 27-year-old talked about her experience at the operation table. She mentioned that she was terrified of the procedure but thankfully, everything went according to plan.
A follower enquired whether Genie was “knocked out” for the surgery or only the part under operation was made numb. The Canadian wrote, “Full anesthesia… I was so scared beforehand cuz I’ve never been under. But everything went perfectly. However, when I came to after the procedure I kinda freaked out and was super emotional lol.”
She further revealed that she’ll share the video with her fans. “My mom took videos. I’ll have to show y’all one day. It’s too funny,” she added.
Even in the picture she posted along with the answer, Eugenie was on a hospital bed and was clutching the bed’s handlebar on for dear life.
