It was the second round of the US Open 2021 and fans witnessed an incredible three-set thriller there. Facing Amanda Anisimova, World No.4 Karolina Pliskova made an incredible comeback after losing the second set and defeated the American in three sets. The final scoreline of the match was 7-5, 6(5)-7(7), 7(9)-6(7).
Karolina Pliskova showed some phenomenal gameplay and even saved a match-point to win the match. She was playing not only against Amanda Anisimova but also against the crowd, which was constantly supporting their local girl. However, in the end, she kept her calm and delivered an extradorinaiy performance on the court under pressure.

After the match, Anisimova thanked the crowd for their support. Even though she lost the match, she fought like a warrior.
“Thank you New York. You were an unforgettable crowd,” tweeted Anisimova.
It is the crowd that gave her the extra energy. She only allowed Pliskova to break past her in the first set and then, played some quite attacking tennis throughout the match.

Even though Anisimova reacted as if she was alright after the loss, she badly wanted to win the match, especially after earning a match-point and coming so close in the match. She even revealed that she was quite upset as she wanted to win the match for her father.

Although Amanda Anisimova is out of the US Open 2021, Karolina Pliskova, on the other hand, will now advance to the third round. The Czech player has played some quite amazing tennis this season and is one of the favorites to win the Grand Slam. Will she be able to lift her maiden major in New York this year?
