Yet Pegula’s devotion to dogs doesn’t stop at her own pets. With her husband, Taylor Gahagen, she actively co-manages a charity called A Lending Paw. The charity’s mission is twofold: not only does it rescue dogs, but it also nurtures and finances them, transforming them into service animals.

“We wanted to help people afford service dogs,” Pegula says in the interview with Vogue. “Not only is that about dogs helping people, it’s about people helping dogs, because we only work with rescues. It goes both ways.”
