After being out of the tour for a year, Serena Williams is finally eyeing a comeback this season. The 40-year-old last played at the 2021 Wimbledon Championships. During her first-round clash against Aliaksandra Sasnovich, she suffered a hamstring injury, forcing her to retire mid-match. The injury further forced the former World No. 1 to be out of the tour for the reminder of the tour.

The 23-time major champion is finally expected to make a comeback at this year’s SW19. Serena, who is a highly social media savvy, recently took to her Instagram to give a glimpse of her intense training ahead of her much-anticipated comeback.

Serena Williams gives a glimpse of her comeback training

Serena Williams is known for being one of the most active players on social media. She uses her social media handles to keep her fans updated with her personal as well as professional activities. Yesterday, her already excited fans had nothing less than a treat. Taking to her Instagram, Serena shared a video of her ongoing training.

However, the video wasn’t a traditional training session video. Going a step further, Serena opted to take a creative step by going for a transition video. The video started with Serena in a pink dress as she threw her racquet in the air to catch it back in the next transition. Coming to the main segment of the video, Serena wore a Nike outfit as she practiced on a hard court, hitting serves and strokes.

The video in no time gained mileage with fans going gaga over her return. While some praised Serena for the video, others showered their blessings on her for her comeback.

A Wimbledon comeback for Serena?

Despite Serena dropping hints about her return to courts, it still remains a question of debate. Weeks ago, she dropped a hint by putting up a TikTok video which said, ‘On my way to Wimbledon‘.

During the same time, she also attended an event with NFL quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Talking about Serena’s return, Aaron asked if she’ll be making a comeback at the US Open. To which Serena replied that it will be Wimbledon before the US Open.

Apart from the hints, the stats also suggest Wimbledon being the most appropriate tournament for Serena’s comeback. As per the records, Wimbledon has been one of the most successful tournaments for Serena as she won the title seven times.

Even though the tennis community is considering Wimbledon as the comeback tournament of Serena, an official confirmation by her is still awaited.
