Serena Williams is gearing up to enthrall fans for one last time on the tennis court. The American legend will be playing the final tournament of her professional tennis career at the US Open. Recently, she was involved in an adorable moment before one of her practice sessions.

The younger Williams sister has begun her preparations in full swing for the US Open. Determined as ever, the 23-time Grand Slam champion is eager to put on a good show in her ‘home’ Grand Slam tournament.
Serena Williams showers love on her pet dog
In the video posted on US Open’s official Instagram handle, the former World Number 1 scooped up her pet dog, Christopher Chip Rafael Nadal, before gearing up for a practice session. The American legend brought home the Yorkshire terrier in 2017 and the pet has gone on to become a celebrity on social media.

Serena hasn’t been able to regain her mojo since making a comeback in the grass-court season. Earlier this year, she lost in the opening round of the Wimbledon Championships. Subsequently, her first singles win on her comeback came in the first round in Toronto. However, she lost in the second round against Belinda Bencic.

In the recently concluded Western and Southern Open in Cincinnati, Serena’s campaign ended in the first round with a loss to Emma Raducanu.

WTA CEO on Serena’s retirement
The 23-time Grand Slam champion shocked one and all with her sudden decision to retire from tennis. Reacting to this news, WTA CEO and Chairman, Steve Simon said, “With this news, it is important to take a step back and think about everything that Serena has brought to our sport and what she has accomplished both on and off the court.”
