The French Crowd can be pretty vocal whenever a French player is playing, especially at the French Open in Paris. Today, we saw another incident during the first-round match between the Greek player Maria Sakkari and the French player Clara Burel.

As the Greek player was about to serve for the match, a member of the crowd started making some unnecessary noises. As a result, the security team at the stadium had to take some drastic steps to stop the person from interrupting the match.

Earlier in the Phillipe Chatrier stadium, the no.4 seed on the women’s side, Maria Sakkari played an outstanding match against the French player, Burel.

However, at the end of the match, as Sakkari was about the win the match in straight sets, a crowd member interrupted her which caused a massive delay in the game. The security team tried to get that person out of the stadium. Unfortunately, they failed to do so. However, they sat beside that person.

Still, it did not work out, as the security team had to drag him out of the stadium. You can watch the video below.

Eventually, Sakkari won the game comfortably in straight, as the final score was 6-2,6-3. However, the no.4 seed would have liked the match to finish a little bit earlier, if it was not for the interruption. Apart from that, the Greek tennis star showed great form in her very first match at the French Open and will face a tough opponent in Karolina Muchova in the next round.

A few shocking results of the opening day of the French Open 2022

Although there were no other bizarre incidents like the Sakkari match, there were some bizarre and shocking results. In the men’s draw, two-time Roland Garros finalist Dominic Thiem crashed out of the tournament with a straight-set loss to Bolivian player Hugo Dellien.

Meanwhile, in the women’s draw, 2-time Grand Slam champion Garbine Muguruza lost in a tough match to Kaia Kanepi. Apart from her, the tournament dark horse Ons Jabeur suffered a massive first-round loss to the Polish tennis player Magda Linette in three sets.
