Venus has faced both professional and medical challenges in her path to success. The 41-year-old was suffering from Sjogren’s syndrome, an autoimmune disease that affects about 4 million people in the U.S. After overcoming the illness, Venus has worked hard to spread awareness about the disease.
Venus Williams shares a post about world Sjogren’s day
It is a systemic autoimmune disease that affects the entire body. With symptoms of extensive dryness. Venus started having these problems back in 2004. However, the 41-year-old kept ignoring the symptoms for a long time. Later, at one stage, it became threatening to her career.
After recovering from the disease, Venus does her part in spreading awareness about it. Recently, she shared a post on her Instagram story, about World Sjogren’s day.

“For those (with) chronic illness this day is for you,” she wrote in the caption.
A few years ago, Venus shared what she went through.
“No matter how hard I worked, I was exhausted, short of breath, and never felt in shape. It was really frustrating. My symptoms got progressively worse, to the point where I couldn’t play professional tennis anymore,” she said.

Venus gave a surprise to her fans when she stepped on the court to play doubles in the Wimbledon Championships 2022. Further, the 41-year-old is all set to make a comeback in singles as well. The former world number 1 will play in a couple of events in Washington DC and Toronto.
With the US Open not too far away now, it is an indication that the 41-year-old is planning to compete in the last Grand Slam of the year.
