“My dog is my life” – Venus Williams’ dog Harry is not just her pet but also her partner in crime. The little dog is often seen accompanying her in day-to-day tasks and at times he’s also spotted taking a world tour in Venus Williams’ backpack. The fluffy friend shares an intense bond with the tennis star. Venus’ connection with Harry is not just adorable but also inspiring to other dog lovers. She often shares multiple such heartwarming moments with Harry on her social media accounts.

Recently, the 44-year-old captured a hilarious moment with her dog and posted that on her Instagram story with the caption, “Harry is 17 and spry :).” In that video clip, Williams seemed to be struggling while trying to catch up with her fluffy friend. The dog was seen running from one corner of the room to the other in excitement. Williams could be heard saying, “Well Harry’s back at it! Harrold? Harrold! Do you have to act like this? When did you get so fast? Whenever I ask you to do something you walk very slow. How do I keep up with you? Hal! Come, come on little monster (laughs).“

Venus Williams has a huge fanbase and now her dog, Harry has also started to create his own fanbase! Just a few days ago, Venus shared an IG story where Harry was seen having zoomies early in the morning while Williams was busy attending the book tour. She was heard telling Harry, “Harry, it is too early in the morning for this. Harry, listen, Harry, let’s just go and lie down. Harry enough.” However, despite several attempts, the dog wagged his tail and ran around in excitement. Venus captioned the story, “Harry is excited about our book tour #strivebook.”

In 2023, Venus partnered with Purina Pro Plan for the two-month challenge to inspire pet parents to provide their dogs with nutritious foods and plenty of active quality time. Although, for the tennis players, it’s very hard to spend time at their homes, Venus Williams says, “I’m a passionate pet owner, and my dog is my life. He is the focus of my life. I love the little guy.”

Harry often becomes Venus’ travel partner during her Tour days, but does her furry friend have a passion for tennis? Well, the answer is a big no! Harry’s favorite toys are squeaky plushes, not balls. However, he likes to take part in activities and hang out with his mom, Venus Williams.

“Get him” – Did Serena Williams play a role in helping her sister, Venus Williams in adopting Harry?

Well, yes! Serena did play a role in helping Venus adopt Harry. Here’s how this incredible bonding started between Venus Williams and Harry. Venus met Harry (Havanese dog breed) in 2007. While initially, she stated that she had not planned anything about getting a dog, one day when she saw this puppy outside her window, Venus fell in love with him immediately, and then she called her sister, Serena Williams. Reflecting on that moment, she added, “I called my sister and said, ‘What should I do? I like this dog.‘ And she said, ‘Get him. I love him already.‘ And so it was the best decision and best advice I ever got.”

Venus Williams had dogs before Harry, but she couldn’t spend a lot of time with them due to her frequent travels. One of her pups had once fallen sick while she was on tour. She felt very bad about it and as a result, she was a bit hesitant before bringing another one home. “I think also spending time with your dog helps them to live longer, giving them that real love and attention makes a huge difference,” the veteran says. Venus loves hugging her fluffy friend almost throughout the day. She once revealed, “My mom always says, ‘This dog is spoiled.“

In 2021, Venus Williams shared a picture of Harry with Serena Williams’ elder daughter Olympia on National Pet Day. Fans poured in a lot of love on that picture. Harry is almost a part of the Williams family now. Don’t you think so?
