Venus Williams' Harper's Bazaar cover—Does this solidify her as a fashion icon beyond tennis?

Serena and her big sister Venus Williams‘ equation has been the talk of the town for a long, long time. While the duo were fierce against each other on the court, their off-court chemistry inspired the fraternity. As Venus published her second book this year, baby sister Serena Williams came forward with her support, showing how she will always have her sister’s back.

Venus published her book Strive recently. Backed up by the stories of her struggle, this former WTA number one wanted to empower her readers to not bend down to life’s obstacles, but to overcome them. Venus wrote her first book, Come to Win, in 2010, and after fourteen years of that achievement, she published her second one, inspiring her followers. Apart from writing books, Williams also runs a beauty line called EleVen. Recently, this Olympic gold medalist WTA star appeared on the October cover of Harper’s Bazaar and amazed the fraternity with her look. Along with her glamorous photoshoot, Venus spoke about her well-being journey with the publication.

The official Instagram page of Harper’s Bazaar shared a glimpse of Venus Williams’ cover shoot. Dressed in a plunge-neck red ensemble to a short dress and a furry tube gown, the WTA star’s looks were as incredible as her ideal behind her second book. In conversation with Lottie Lumsden, Venus also decoded her struggles with her autoimmune disease and how she fought back to stand where she is right now. Venus’ cover shoot for the magazine garnered much praise from the fraternity, including Serena Williams. She shared Harper Bazaar’s Instagram post on her story and wrote, “Yessss @venuswilliams” expressing her delight seeing Venus’ look for Harper’s Bazaar.

On the other hand, Venus Williams’ second book is a testament to her resilience. In an exclusive interview, she delved into how this book fits into many of her interests apart from tennis. Venus’ revelations showcase an unexplored side of her personality, where she aims to help people with her learnings.

Venus Williams called Strive the story of her “life”

In an interview with National Public Radio, Venus was asked to speak about how her second book promotes her life’s interests. While replying to host Michel Martin, Williams said, “This book is really kind of the story of my life. You know, a lot of people would write a biography, and I would write a book about health and wellness. And also, the story of my life as an athlete and kind of the lessons I’ve learned, but in the lens of wellness, too.” Williams’ revelations also highlighted her passion for staying healthy and fit. Now she wishes to transfer her learnings to her supporters, rewarding them with a lesson about fitness.

She concluded her response by saying, “And in this book, too, I don’t just share, like, all the positive things. I share the mistakes that I’ve made, too – like, what I learned from, not to do again. I call it, I did this. I made this mistake so you don’t have to (laughter).”
