The eagerly awaited ‘King Richard’ depicts the lives of two legends, Venus and Serena Williams. The story revolves around the hardships Richard Williams, their father, faced in making them two of the best tennis players of all time. Just recently, the movie had its premiere night before the release on 19th November.
Venus Williams, Serena Williams, Alexis Ohanian, and baby Olympia attended the grand event in Los Angeles. Soon after, Venus Williams shared a mesmerizing picture, highlighting her iconic beads. The 41-years old even went on to explain the importance of her hairstyle.

Venus Williams talks about the importance of beads
At the premiere of ‘King Richard, Venus wore a gorgeous silver dress. Along with the dress, the spotlight was on the iconic silver beads that she wore. Just after the premiere, Venus shared a picture on her Instagram, highlighting the historic and cultural importance of beads.
In the Instagram post shared, Venus wrote, “When @serenawilliams and I wore our iconic beads, we didn’t wear them to be different, we wore them because they were a part of our heritage. Beads are a typical style for African American children. Of course, they are worn by adults too for decoration in African American culture but have deep roots in African history.”

Speaking on beads and braids, she further added, “Beads and braids could be a symbol of your tribe, rank, and status, age, religion, and much more. They were and still remain in some areas of cultural significance to both men and women.”
Venus was unaware of the importance of beads in her childhood
As Venus shared the origin and importance of beads, she was unaware of their significance back in her childhood. However, she sees this as an opportunity to share the cultural heritage with the world, and take pride in it. She further quoted, “Wearing a beaded style for the premiere was a representation of my roots. The film is a true origins story.”
