Does Venus Williams' journey redefine what it means to be successful in sports and life?

Former WTA number one Venus Williams surely knows how to be successful. In thirty years of her career, she proved that there is almost nothing unachievable for her, despite her battles with a life-threatening disease. However, Williams doesn’t want to keep it to herself! Following the publication of her second book, Williams decoded her secrets to success and showed why she deserves the admiration she gets.

Williams released her book Strive: 8 Steps to Find Your Wellness in September. As a person who is “very serious about success,” the former WTA number one gleaned over her glorious career and offered guidance. “Not in the sense that I have to win every match but in the sense that I know that I gave myself my best shot to be my best,” she said while defining her idea of success. Despite her battles with the autoimmune disease Sjogren syndrome, Williams became one of the world’s most accomplished athletes, opening doors for black sportswomen like Naomi Osaka, Taylor Townsend, and Simone Biles. However, what influenced her to take on this tedious task? Well, the writer has spoken herself!

Williams appeared on This Morning show and had a detailed conversation about it with host, Ben Shephard. “I wanted to share all those lessons that I’ve learned on the court about winning, losing, failure, resilience, setting goals, and being a leader in your own life and in others lives too. And everything is right there, and everything I’ve learned, especially this space in my life, I just want to share everything, you know? I don’t know if you guys feel like that too. It’s like I’ve got this knowledge; let me tell you about it,” said Williams, brimming with confidence as she talked about her calling. Not only did she express her thoughts, but she left the audience with the question of whether they agreed with the WTA star after reading the book.
