The iconic sister duo, Venus and Serena Williams are ready to get into the production game with a blast. The legendary duo recently teamed up in the entertainment industry with a production company, Nine Two Six Productions. Months after bringing in a new multimedia company, the 41-year-old American tennis legend, and her elder sister have been roped in for an upcoming documentary as executive producers.

The two tennis legends made intense statements about what it’s like to be involved in the making of a documentary. They also explained why they decided to base their new film on a story about a celebrity.

Serena Williams details her recent multimedia project

The 23-time Grand Slam champion and Venus, along with their sister, Isha Price, have banded together for a documentary called ‘Between Starshine and Clay: The Hidden Diary of Diahann Carroll.’ While the documentary is currently under production, as a black woman, the American actress broke multiple color barriers for black women by making her own position in the entertainment industry. To share her life journey, the Queen of the Court will be a part of the movie through her production company.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Serena shared her part of the story regarding why they chose the American actress as one of their production projects. She said, “Diahann Carroll has paved the way for so many, including myself, and I hope that this personal look into her life will continue to inspire audiences and future generations.” Nevertheless, the 1968 Golden Globe Award winner is someone who will become the first to star in her own television series, Julia.

In addition, the documentary will also feature a lot of well-known women reading passages from Carroll’s diary, along with some unseen videos and pictures of the American actress. Subsequently, the seven-time Grand Slam champion also talked about the 1962 Tony Award, highlighting her unforgettable legacy while talking about the unique storytelling perspective the documentary might hold.

Venus Williams opens up about Carroll’s trailblazing legacy

The 43-year-old American tennis star, who will also be a part of the documentary alongside her sisters, revealed a list of things that made Carroll’s legacy different and unique. She said, “What resonated with me was the project’s commitment to illuminating Diahann Carroll’s trailblazing legacy through unique storytelling, highlighting the parallels between the present day and the past.”

Along with that, the eldest Williams’ sister also highlighted how even after being a cultural icon the American actress’s determination remained authentic. In addition, she also pushed back some established norms just to bring empowerment for the other upcoming generations.
