Venus and Serena Williams’ Former Coach Takes a Dig at Overconfident Parents

Venus and Serena Williams were fortunate enough to be trained under one of the best coaches in the world, Rick Macci. Macci traveled to Crompton just because he believed in the potential young Williams’ sisters harbored. Further, he has shaped many young talents and to his still functioning as a coach.

However, Macci doesn’t believe in hiding his true feeling regarding the players under him. In fact, that’s the way he brings out the best in his players. Recently, the 67-year-old thrashed those parents who overestimate their kids.

Venus and Serena Williams’ ex-coach slams unnecessarily proud parents

The American often shares stories regarding his past and present players. Macci, being a father-like figure to his students, often finds himself arguing with parents that pressure their children. Though this time he took a different approach to slam those parents. He took to Twitter to send a subtle yet strong message.

Macci wrote, “Over ten thousand parents have seen the video of Venus and Serena at age 10 and 11 and every parent has said the same thing. My kid is better.”

Thereafter, he added, “The moral to the story is what is under the hood is the leader in the clubhouse!” Further, Macci has always appreciated the type of parenting Richard did.

Earlier, he mentioned that how much he admired the fact that Williams did not impose the pressure of winning matches on Serena and Venus and let them train in peace. During their teenage days, both the Williams sisters played a few junior level tournaments and had their entire focus on making an impactful debut.
