Venus Williams and Serena Williams’ rise to the top of the tennis world is deeply inspiring. The two sisters grew up in a humble background in Compton. During their childhood days, their father, Richard Williams, took them to the public tennis courts to train. They worked hard day in and day out to carve a successful career in tennis.

The hard work paid off as the Williams sisters have gone on to become one of the most decorated siblings in tennis. Between them, they share a total of 30 Grand Slam singles titles. Additionally, they also teamed up to win 14 major doubles titles. But despite the close bond with his daughters, Richard took a surprising decision a few years back.
Venus and Serena Williams’ father gave power of attorney to his son
‘King Richard’ dropped a bombshell a few years back by giving the power of attorney to his ‘mystery’ son. Instead of giving it to Serena and Venus Williams, Richard handed it to Chavoita LeSane, a son he had from an unknown relationship. LeSane is the CEO of a music company called ‘ChaVam’ which is based in Florida.
A few months back, Richard’s son had posted a picture with him on Instagram, saying, “Rocking the MoHawk.”

Richard was a constant presence in the stadium when Serena and Venus took the court.
He was the first coach of the Williams sisters before Rick Macci joined their team. The latter struck a healthy bond with the Williams family and together they achieved success all across the globe.

The Williams sisters’ campaign in Toronto ends
The Williams sisters bowed out of the National Bank Open in Toronto after suffering disappointing defeats against their Swiss opponents. While Venus lost in the first round against Jil Teichmann, Belinda Bencic defeated Serena in the second round of the tournament.

Moreover, it was Serena Williams’ last match in Canada after she announced that she will retire after the US Open later this month. The 23-time Grand Slam champion bid an emotional adieu during her post-match interview after her second-round loss.
