Bianca Andreescu, the Canadian tennis ace, became the first teenager to win a Grand Slam after Maria Sharapova in 2006. She defeated the 23 times Grand Slam champion in the finals of the US Open to clinch the trophy in 2019. Further, she turned pro in the year 2017, and within two years, she claimed the ranking of World no.4. The highest ever ranking for a Canadian in WTA.
However, she was out of the circuit since her injury, post which she took a break for mental healing and made a comeback at Stuttgart Open. After gaining the lost connection at Stuttgart, she looks strong in the ongoing Madrid Open. Recently, while speaking to the press, she told how she spent her time during her break.

What Did Bianca Andreescu Do During Her Mental Health Break?
After thrashing American tennis ace Danielle collins in straight sets of 6-1, 6-1, Bianca spoke about what her life was like during her five-month break. She admitted that she invested her energy in social work. The Canadian said, “I did some charity work which kind of brings me back to like my main goal, which is to help others. I kind of want to just use my platform, which is tennis, to widen that variety. So being in that position really reminded me why I actually play the sport.”
Further, she spoke about activities that were a part of her day-to-day life five during those five months. She said, “I picked up martial arts. I took dance lessons. And I played a lot of basketball. Yeah, just a bunch of stuff.”

Earlier, Naomi Osaka, the former world no.1, has also spoken about the same. She believes that just playing isn’t enough contribution to society. Players need to be more involved. Also, she strongly advocates for better mental health for tennis players.

Bianca Picked a Childhood Hobby
Bianca has earlier spoken about her interest in music. She even admitted that she admired and idolized Justin Bieber while in a conversation with complex Canada. In fact, Bieber was the inspiration behind her guitar lessons. But, due to the hectic schedule of tennis, she barely got time to pursue music, even as a hobby. However, the Canadian reconnected with her hobby during these five months. As she said, “I started making some music as well again, because I started that during the quarantine back in 2020. But I kind of picked it up again”
Music has always been an integral part of Bianca’s life, as it helps calm her nerves. The 21-year-old admitted that she listens to music before her big matches, like a match against Serena Williams in 2019 for the title at US Open. She was listening to hip-hop. She also meditates regularly to ward off negative energy.
