Coco Gauff vs. Iga Swiatek: Preview
The American sensation has shown some of the best form over the past months. She is on a 6-match winning streak which started at the WTA Finals last year. Moreover, at the United Cup, Gauff is yet to lose a set and has hardly broken any sweat in her victories Down Under. Along with her singles commitments, Gauff has also taken on the responsibility in mixed doubles and won both the matches she played with Taylor Fritz at the ongoing United Cup. Thus, Gauff looks like a player to beat at the moment and will go out all guns blazing against Swiatek tomorrow.

Similarly, Swiatek has also begun her season with a bang and won all her matches at the United Cup. Swiatek’s journey at the United Cup has been somewhat similar to her rival, Guaff and she won all 4 matches played at the tournament. However, the Pole has had to grind hard for her victories and even lost a set against Katie Boulter in the quarterfinals. Further, Swiatek also participated in mixed doubles matches and won both the matches that she played in this format. With Swiatek’s journey here being similar to that of Gauff, it’ll be interesting to see who has the upper hand tomorrow.

Gauff vs. Swiatek: Head-to-head
Being on a level where they are right now, Swiatek and Gauff have established one of the most intriguing rivalries in the history of tennis. These two stars have faced each other 13 times, with Swiatek leading the way in 11 of those matches. Gauff, however, has had her moments and defeated Swiatek at the WTA Finals and in Cincinnati in 2023. These wins leave a significant mark on Gauff’s ability to challenge Swiatek’s dominance. However, despite her strong track record on hard counts, Gauff knows she will have to perform at her absolute peak to overcome her opponent in their next meeting.

Prediction: Expect a neck-to-neck battle
Statistically speaking, there is hardly anything to separate Gauff and Swiatek. While the American sensation is ranked third, Swiatek is placed second on the WTA rankings chart. Further, Swiatek had a fairly superior win-loss record than Gauff last year, winning 61 matches while losing 9. On the other hand, Gauff managed to win 54 matches while losing 17. Another interesting aspect of Swiatek’s game this season has been her return game. She has had a greater return win percentage than her opponents more often than not.
Additionally, Swiatek’s dominant run over Gauff would also play into the minds of the two stars when they face each other tomorrow. Owing to the above reasons, Swiatek is expected to dig deep and defeat Gauff in three sets. Their match will be the first contest of the finals tie and expect a cracker of a beginning to the 2025 United Cup Final.
