Danielle Collins has jetted to Perth for the season-commencing United Cup but, ironically, it’s not the tournament that’s excited her. While the annual group event has drawn Team USA against Canada for their opening clash on December 29, Collins will stay rested as her teammates handle business. However, the American player has other adventures planned with compatriots Coco Gauff, Desirae Krawczyk and others.
After announcing that 2024 will be her final season on the WTA Tour, Collins decided to return for more in 2025. The 31-year-old stormed the circuit this past year with her back-to-back stellar performances during her spring spurge. She landed consecutive title wins in Miami and Charleston, ultimately helping her rise from outside the top 70 to the top 10 of the world rankings. Collins even reached the last eight of the Paris Olympics but was unfortunately forced to retire due to injury against Polish No. 1 Iga Swiatek.
Amid battling health issues, including rheumatoid arthritis and endometriosis, Collins expressed her desire to start a family. While she confirmed retirement plans earlier this year, the 31-year-old told fans “things have not gone as planned” on Instagram. Collins reversed her retirement plans and highlighted, “While there are no guarantees in life, I hope to build on my 2024 momentum and keep playing until there is more certainty around my personal fertility journey. The only guarantee for now will be some more epic matches.”

Subsequently, to make good on her plans, the former World No. 9 joined her team for the United Cup in Perth. Addressing the media at the 2025 United Cup press conference, Collins revealed excitement ahead of the planned ‘escape room’ activity with her countrywomen, Gauff and Krawczyk.
“I just got here yesterday, so just enjoying hanging out with my girls, Coco and Des. Yeah, haven’t done a whole lot yet. Looking forward to probably doing the escape room later, as long as I don’t fall asleep early.”

Further Collins discussed the true motivations behind her participation in the event: “Yeah, I mean, after Olympics, we just had to get the fam back together. We had a good run there, had a great time with the same crew. It was a no-brainer after talking to everybody about coming back this year and kicking it off here in Perth.”
To much amazement, Collins’ 2024 season was full of surprises. She even tried to figure out her plans for a healthy dating life until those adventures were hit with a hilarious roadblock.

American superstar Danielle Collins had a humongous incident to share following the conclusion of the Billie Jean King Cup finals.
After her team faced a premature exit at the hands of Slovakia at the annual group event, the 31-year-old was featured on ‘What the Vlog’, a YouTube channel run by Dasat Kasatkina and Natalia Zabiiako.
Collins highlighted how she went on a date with a man and when she tried telling him that their date didn’t work out, the conversation hilariously slipped to zodiac sign compatibility and how their ‘stars didn’t align.’

She said, “So, I talked to him about it and I’m like, ‘look’, and he’s just like, ‘Let’s just go for another dinner and see[…]’ I said, ‘No, I’m traveling. I’ve got a lot to come on and it’s just not gonna work. And the other reason it’s not gonna work is because I’m a Sagittarius and you are a Taurus and our compatibility just doesn’t work. Like, it’s just like the stars aren’t aligned.”
Collins will likely return to action at the United Cup if her team requires her assistance during the much-awaited showcase in Perth and Sydney. The American player will commence her singles 2025 campaign with the Australian hardcourt swing in January.
