Tennis is a game that is all about uncertainties. While there are heroes that come out unknowingly in a tournament, there are injuries that can announce sudden withdrawal from the game. The same has been the case with Coco Gauff. The 19-year-old prodigy, who is regarded by many as one of the upcoming sensations has surprised his fans with a shocker.

While everyone expected her to participate at the upcoming WTA Zhengzhou Open, she has surprised many as it is now claimed that the US Open champion has withdrawn from the tournament. While the exact reasons are still not known, many have started to speculate is it because of any injury concern.

Coco Gauff withdraws from the WTA Zhengzhou Open

Coco Gauff, who was on a spectacular 16-match winning streak and recent Grand Slam success, has made a strategic decision to withdraw from the WTA Zhengzhou Open. The tweet by The Tennis Letter confirmed her absence from the tournament. This now means that she would be taking some rest from her game while preparing herself for the upcoming WTA Finals that are supposed to be held in Mexico.

Initially set to compete in the Zhengzhou Open, Gauff has now redirected her focus entirely towards the prestigious WTA Finals, where she aims to continue her impressive run and secure further victories on the international tennis stage.

That being said, now that Coco Gauff has announced her withdrawal, many have started to speculate what could be the actual cause of her withdrawal. Could it be the injury on the shoulder that she suffered when she faced Iga Swiatek?

Has Gauff withdrawn from the tournament because of injury?

Coco Gauff was in a hot run of form. Before facing Iga Swiatek at the semi-finals of the Shanghai Masters, the young American was undefeated. After being in great form, she came to face Iga Swiatek. However, things did not turn out well in her favor and she had to compromise with a loss.

As the match between the two went on, Coco Gauff seemed to struggle. Also in the second set, she had to be given a medical timeout after her right shoulder was seemingly in a lot of pain. Despite this, she went ahead to continue playing and eventually, she lost the match.

In the post-match conference, she came ahead to talk about her injury while suggesting that she was not used to playing with pain during the match. This might have been one of the major reasons for her withdrawal as she might be looking to recover completely before competing yet again at the WTA Finals.
