Venus Williams, the five-time Wimbledon winner, walked away from the tournament earlier than expected. The entire arena was shaking as the 43-year-old American tennis star exited in the first round of her 24th Wimbledon competition. Not only were her fans disappointed by her departure but the American tennis player herself also suffered tremendously. Even though leaving the event was difficult for her, she faced a lot of negativity regarding her exit.
And to put a stop to all the negativity, she shared an emotional message, sharing her take on experiencing such an early exit at Wimbledon. And while pouring her heart out, she drew heartfelt remarks from Serena Williams’ husband Alexis Ohanian and another tennis star Rennae Stubbs.

Venus Williams’ Emotional Wimbledon exit receives support
While the incident was highly emotional for some spectators, others criticized Venus for continuing when she was way past her prime. Anyway, hours after her defeat, she took to Instagram and spoke her heart out.
She shared some of her pictures walking off the tennis court after the first-round defeat. And along with that she explained the moment and her emotion beautifully. She wrote, “I’m not sure how I managed to smile in this moment, but I don’t remember my face looking like this…pleasant… I felt just the opposite.”

Further, she also talked about how she sat down in the locker room alone. While trying to figure out how she could learn from her defeat and do better the next time. Seeing her share such an emotional message about how she managed to keep her positivity, Serena Williams’ husband, in no time, commented on the post and wrote, “All heart.”
In addition, the former Australian tennis player Rennae Stubbs also agreed with the seven-time Grand Slam champion’s ideology of handling a defeat. She wrote, “Because no matter what, you competed and that is where the joy comes from!”

While the 43-year-old American tennis star’s exit was quite emotional, it also brought in a lot of drama. Well, there was one more reason that got her into the limelight. She is facing a lot of criticism as she failed to shake hands with the umpire after the match.
Williams refused to shake hands with umpire
While fighting for a match point, Venus served to the Ukrainian who returned onto the baseline. Williams looked to play it a little casually thinking it was out. The chair umpire called it out too. However, Elina Svitolina used hawk-eye which overturned the decision. Venus expected the point to be replayed but the chair umpire decided not to, and the match ended right there.

As a result, she was upset and refused to shake hands with the umpire. The 43-year-old was so overcome with emotion that she decided to bypass the protocol.
