In a bold move to secure a seed in the Australian Open, American tennis sensation Emma Navarro is employing a unique strategy. The 22-year-old is making waves on the ITF Tour, consistently clinching victories and reaching her 8th final in 2023. If she wins the title at the upcoming ITF in Charleston, she could break into the top 35 of the WTA rankings, and position herself as the 33rd tennis player globally.

Navarro’s unconventional approach is not limited to the ITF circuit. She has also entered November’s WTA 125k tournaments, showing how badly she is working for her seeding at the Australian Open.

Whether this bizarre move taken by her eventually bears fruit is a question best left to the future, but recent history has spelled good times for the American.

Emma Navarro secured the biggest win of her career this year

Making her way into the finals of the ITF Charleston, Emma Navarro just needs to defeat 3rd-seeded Panna Udvary and clinch the title to make a jump higher up in the rankings. Currently holding the 38th spot, she could see a massive jump of a possible 5 spots if she wins the title.

But, this would not be the main highlight of her year. The biggest success came when she bagged the most significant win of her career earlier at the San Diego Open. In an interesting showdown, she faced Greek sensation Maria Sakkari in the quarter-finals. In a match that lasted 2 hours and 13 minutes, the young American stunned Sakkari and won the match in a 3-set thriller. This also marked her first win against a Top 10-ranked player.
