Estonian tennis star, Anett Kontaveit, is moving on to the next phase of her life following a promising career on the WTA circuit. At the age of 27, she swung her racket for the last time on the Wimbledon singles court in the second round. After providing a glimpse of hope in the first round, she was defeated by Marie Bouzkova. Following her early retirement from professional tennis, Kontaveit received an emotional note from tennis veteran Chris Evert.

Her decision was pretty heartbreaking for her supporters and even for many tennis legends, as she was one of the brightest stars in the game who was forced to retire due to a degenerative back injury. But, a lot of tennis players also understand what she is going through.

The 27-year-old tennis player surged in popularity last year after she became Serena Williams’ final victim on the tennis court. Like the legendary American, she has now withdrawn from the singles circuit due to an injury. After making this huge decision of retiring at such a young age, the Estonian star is ready to face the next part of her life. It prompted Chris Evert to post a sweet tribute for the Estonian player on her Twitter account to wish her well.

She wrote, “Anett, you were one of my favorites! I loved your game and your personality. Good luck! you have a wonderful life ahead of you!”

And along with that, she shared a beautiful picture with her that was taken in 2021 during the WTA Tour Finals.

However, this wasn’t the first time the two renowned names on the tennis circuit showed their appreciation for each other. Last year, the former world number two named the 18-time Grand Slam champion as someone whose tweets are very likable.
