American tennis star Jessica Pegula has done well in 2022. The 28-year-old was consistent and made it to the quarterfinal of three Grand Slam events this year. Although she could not pass the hurdle all three times. In the ongoing US Open 2022, she lost to world number 1 Iga Swiatek 6-3, 7-6.

After the end of her journey in the US Open, Pegula spoke to the media. However, there was something strange that Pegula did. She sipped on a can of Heineken Lagar during the press conference.

Pegula later revealed that she was having the Heineken can for a specific reason. As she had to urinate for a routine doping test, that she had to go through later. “I like the Heineken,” a reporter quipped. Pegula responded: “I’m trying to pee for doping. Although it does help ease the loss!”

Interestingly, the last two times she lost in the quarterfinal, her opponent went on to win the title. In the Australian Open, she lost against now retired Ashleigh Barty. She later won the Australian Open.

Similarly, she lost to Iga Swiatek in the French Open and the polish ended her campaign with the title. This time it was Swiatek again. It will be interesting to see if the trend continues.

Pegula and Coco Gauff argue with the Umpire

Compatriots Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula partnered to take part in the US Open women’s doubles. The American duo crashed out of the tournament after suffering a first-round defeat to Leylah Fernandez and Daria Saville.

Notably, the French Open finalist duo was furious at the umpire Christian Rask, asking them to play a point again after Saville called ‘let’ as a piece of paper flew inside the court. The duo also accused the umpire of stealing their points. Notably, Gauff claimed it was the second time the umpire denied a point to them.
