Venus and Serena are two names everyone associated with the sport has simultaneously heard on the tennis court for a long time. Since their first match against each other in 1998, the Williams sisters have competed for the biggest titles while showing their distinct personalities on the tennis field. Beyond their battle on the court, though, is their sisterhood, which is filled with unwavering friendship and unmatched support.

After having a glorious tennis career, a lot of things have changed. Times have changed in such a way that the younger sister has retired from the tennis arena. However, Venus still has some unfinished business on the WTA Tour. And a few days ago, the 7-time Grand Slam champion, who is now 43, made a comeback to the sport after a hiatus. Ahead of what could be her final Wimbledon appearance, she received the most supportive counsel from her younger sister, who was there in the Netherlands, to cheer her up.

After suffering an injury earlier in the month of August, the seven-time Grand Slam champion returned to the sport after a 6-month break. Even though she had missed the Australian Open and the French Open, the 43-year-old tennis star wanted to get back before Wimbledon, and she did. A few days ago, she played her comeback match at the Libema Open in the Netherlands.

She shared a video from the first Libema Open on her YouTube channel. But the thing that grabbed everybody’s attention was her younger sister’s advice before she stepped on the tennis court. Serena Williams said, “I am not coaching, but, stay positive. Never get down on yourself; that’s what frustrated me to death. I can see that you never got it down, so just keep that, go back to that; that’s what the most frustrating thing in the world.”

Even the 23-time Grand Slam champion is clearly aware of the hurdles her sister is facing because of her longevity. Not only that, the younger sibling was also present in the stands to support her elder sister while she embarked on a new journey.

When Venus shared Serena’s wisest advice 

Venus is the oldest, but she is not the only one who has inspirational words; her younger sister frequently gives her some words of wisdom that encourage her on the field. She shared wise words from the 41-year-old and their mother during a Q&A session on the Eleven By Venus Instagram page a few months ago.

The eldest Williams sibling stated without hesitation that her mother thought she was cautious of the world. Serena, in the meantime, inspired her to participate as an athlete. She remembered the counsel of the legendary American tennis player: “You have to show up, so why not compete?” And, while she follows her advice, her younger sibling stands by her like a rock.
