Serena Williams‘ husband Alexis Ohanian has been a striking figure in the industry because of his business endeavors. But that’s not it; in 2013, the American internet entrepreneur amused his legion of fans by penning down a book depicting his journey.

In the book titled, ‘Without Their Permission,’ he also opened up about his struggles as a teenager. Being overweight as a young guy, Ohanian faced a lot of body-shaming and bullies in school.

To inspire a lot of young entrepreneurs with his words, Alexis Ohanian detailed his incredible journey in the book titled “Without Their Permission”, which was released in 2013. While talking about his success as the co-founder of Reddit, the ‘Mayor of the Internet’ also detailed his struggles as a teenager. During his school days, Ohanian had to face a lot of bullies because he was overweight.

Talking about the same, he said, “It easily could’ve gone the other way—self-loathing and depression—but I cared too much about video games and computers to realize how not cool I was.”

The American internet entrepreneur also revealed that he was too busy playing video games on his computer during his childhood. Consequently, he was oblivious that he was not so ‘cool’ during his school days. Ohanian further said, “I overcame my weight by making jokes about it before bullies could. Girls were trickier, though. I nearly failed geometry because of a cute girl named Erin, who told me (well, she told my best friend, but so it goes in eighth grade) that I was too fat to go to the dance with.”

Ohanian revealed how his parents helped nurture his passion

The Reddit cofounder used to spend hours on his computer playing video games and doing other things. He was fascinated with all the things related to tech and computers. But his parents never really understood the concept of PC. Still, they let him ardently pursue his interests.

Ohanian once revealed that he broke his PC quite a few times, but he also used to fix it immediately. He just got more and more enthralled by all the tech-related things that also include his campaigning for a 33.6Kbps connection. Later, he turned this passion into revolutionizing online platforms as he co-founded the renowned microblogging site, Reddit.
