As the French Open nears its culmination, some favorites have already been eliminated. One of the most shocking defeats of the season included Aryna Sabalenka. The Belarusian player lost against world number 43, Karolina Muchova. As fans continue to postulate about her defeat, Pam Shriver, former WTA number 3, also added to the theories of why Sabalenka lost the match.
After her defeat, Sabalenka was up for another difficult post-match interview. While she was avoiding pressers for a few matches, she decided to attend the latest one. It, however, turned out to be another interview that would fatigue her.

The French Open semifinal between the Belarusian and Muchova was a nailbiter. Although Muchova won the first set, Sabalenka showed no signs of relenting. She fought well, but the Czech player was able to clinch the victory and move on to her first grand slam final.

All tennis fans were astounded by Muchova’s victory, including the 27-time doubles grand slam champion Pam Shriver. Instead of chastising Sabalenka for letting a sure win go, she reasoned about her defeat. Shriver stated that with all the off-court drama between Sabalenka and the media, her reserves for the match could have been empty, which became the reason for her defeat.

Sabalenka in no mood for politics
Post her defeat, Sabalenka decided to attend the presser instead of avoiding it. While the reporters congratulated her at first, they wasted no time in asking her about her comments about not supporting the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
The Belarusian player, tired from her defeat, gave a succinct reply about her thoughts on the question. “I don’t want to talk about politics today. I made all my statements. You have it. I don’t want to talk about politics today. Let’s just talk about tennis. Give me some rest, please, from politics (smiling).”
