Coco Gauff knows how to keep her fans hooked, whether she’s smashing forehands on the court or cracking jokes off it. With the off-season still in full swing, tennis stars are soaking up their downtime. But not Gauff—she’s already back on the grind, sweating it out on the practice courts as she gears up for the next season. However, it’s not all smooth sailing for the young star. Gauff recently revealed that her practice sessions have been a bit of a struggle lately. But in true fashion, she’s not letting the challenges dampen her spirits—or her sense of humor.

The American tennis sensation wrapped her season with a dominant victory at the WTA Finals in Riyadh. However, her overall performance throughout the year was quite subpar given her stature, as besides Riyadh, she managed to clinch titles only at the ASB Classic and the China Open. Hence, it seems that Gauff is willing to enter the upcoming season completely prepared, but her practice sessions are not letting her go without some toll.

Taking to Instagram story, Gauff shared a video of herself running on the tracks as she looked visibly tired. The star player highlighted her struggles and wrote under the post, “me finishing my last 400M yo girl was tired. been doubling up fitness sessions almost all week plus tennis practice every day loll.” Continuing further, she expressed her satisfaction with not choosing track as her sport, as she detailed the practice session activities.

Today’s “i’m glad I didn’t choose track as my sport” workout was 4 sets of 500M, 3 sets of 800M, and 5 sets of 400M to finish it off (which was my fav),” Gauff wrote as the caption. Gauff started her practice sessions last month itself as was witnessed through her social media posts. “First day back,” Gauff wrote sharing a photo of herself on the treadmill. The star player also revealed her “work from home” mode on her social media under her strength and conditioning coach Stephan Dalsogolio. Interestingly, this is not the first time when the American star has opened up about her practice session struggles.

Just a day ago, the 20-year-old took to her Instagram and shared a picture of a parked car close to a wall, at only a distance of a few inches. Comparing it to her condition, Gauff wrote, “This is how close I am to quitting in the middle of every workout so far this preseason, but quitting ain’t cure so we finish.” However, these updates from Coco Gauff not just highlight her challenges but also her determination to ace in her profession. This is probably why experts also think that she can be a tough contender to overcome next season.

Serena Williams’ ex-coach reveals only aspect Coco Gauff needs to improve to be a ‘threat’

Coco Gauff has proved her resilience time and again. Be it winning the US Open title at the young age of 19, or overcoming her service struggles to win the WTA finals, the star player knows how to keep things going. And now, as she looks forward to the next year, Serena Williams’ ex-coach Rennae Stubbs believes that she can become a threat to her opponents if she manages to improve her service game.

Speaking on The Rennae Stubbs podcast, the 53-year-old said, “It will be interesting to see how going out of indoors – because we know playing indoors helps your serve.” Continuing further, she added, “I want to see how she can handle that going outdoors, with the sun and elements etc because I think if she can get a more consistent kick serve that would be huge.” Stubbs further reflected on how she can be a top contender for the Australian Open.

That’s all she needs to work on, the serve. The forehand is getting better, that will be okay. Her biggest issue is the serve, if she is double-faulting she is hurting herself big time. I think she is a real threat at the Australian Open if that is under control,” she added. Now, it would be interesting to see how these grueling practice sessions help the star player going forward and if she manages to win big the next year.
