The happening couple in tennis – Elina Svitolina and Gael Monfils got married last Friday in the presence of their close friends and family in Switzerland. With both the players trying to find their best form yet this year, they have reached Japan today to kick-start the Tokyo Olympics preparations.

Svitolina, who was seeded fourth at Tokyo, will fancy her chances of winning a medal at the Summer Olympics for the first time in her career. At the 2016 Rio Olympics, the Ukrainian tennis star registered a memorable victory against Serena Williams before losing out in the quarter-finals.

Coming to Monfils, the Frenchman is having a tough run on the ATP tour since last year. After a tough loss in the first round at the Australian Open, he broke down during the media interaction and decided to take a small break from tennis.
Even though the Frenchman’s comeback didn’t result in instant success, playing at Olympics might motivate Monfils to have some winning momentum besides him ahead of the US open.

Talking about the immediate transition from wedding to tennis, Svitolina mentioned that it was unbelievable and exciting at the same time. The Ukrainian took to the court today at Ariake Tennis center to get used to the conditions.
“Now it’s time to focus on tennis. There is no time for resting”,?shared the Ukrainian when asked about their honeymoon plans.

For tennis, it’s always refreshing to see players teaming up with each other and playing for a unified goal of bringing a medal to their country at the Olympics.
Along with the singles event, Svitolina will also be participating in doubles as she teamed up with Dayana Yastremska, and this is one interesting combination to watch out for at Tokyo this week.
