The 68-year-old American tennis legend did not hold back when it came to criticizing Coco Gauff’s game. She said via Eurosport “After that first set, Coco had to change something. If you’re losing, you’ve got to change. As soon as she started coming into the net, I thought she could’ve drop-shotted more. She was throwing everything but the kitchen sink at one point, but it’s not her game. Iga beat her at her game. Iga does everything except volleying a little bit better than Coco right now. There’s no area except volleying – mentally, emotionally, physically – she moves as well as Coco”
Evert points out the differences in their forehand and how Swiatek’s groundstrokes are simply superior currently. According to her, Gauff should have maximized on her strengths and approached the net more often.

Coco Gauff and Iga Swiatek’s lopsided rivalry.
Gauff vs Swiatek has been one of the most one-sided rivalries in recent times. The Pole leads the head-to-head 7-0 having won all 14 of the sets played between the two. They have met thrice on clay courts and four times on hard courts but the surface has had very little impact on this rivalry. On the bright side for Gauff, she is just 19 and is yet to reach her peak. However, a negative record of this magnitude could well lead to her developing scar tissue against Iga Swiatek.
