Billie Jean King reacts to praise from Michelle Obama during US Open
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the famous Battle of the Sexes match, where Billie Jean King defeated Bobby Riggs, creating shockwaves across the sporting world. This was a revolutionary feat that resulted in equal pay for both men and women players at the US Open.
Reacting to Michelle Obama’s tribute to her on the first day of the US Open this year, an overwhelmed Jean King said, “Meant so much”.. “She’s always been so warm, and kind, and just good, and also very strong. She really believes in how much she wants to help women and girls and whether it be through nutrition or exercise or education”, as reported by People Magazine.
