Being able to take inspiration from someone with the same cultural relevance is truly a blessing. British boxing prodigy, Caroline Dubois in an interview with Sky Sports News talked about her motivation to do better. Dubois named 4 black female athletes across different sports whom she gets inspired by. One of those names was of the American rising star, Coco Gauff.?
This season has been phenomenal for Coco Gauff in every way possible. While fans were missing the legend, Serena Williams, Gauff came as a surprise and snatched everyone’s attention. The 22-year-old Dubois described the moment she first heard about Gauff in detail.

While keeping the integrity of Black History Month, Caroline Dubois in her conversation with Sky Sports News acknowledged 4 of her favorites. She mentioned American boxer and MMA specialist Claressa Shields. Afterward, she also acknowledged 4-times Olympic gold medalist, Simone Biles. She obviously mentioned retired boxer, Laila Ali. However, it was quite surprising when she mentioned someone younger than herself, Coco Gauff.?
Dubois told the story about the time when she first heard of? Coco Gauff. She said, “Lately, I’ve started to get into tennis. I remember being in Sheffield for boxing camp; for some reason, tennis was always on. And that’s when I first heard about Coco.” She then went on to describe Gauff’s popularity. In her words: “She was all over the newspapers and the internet.” She also hinted at the fact that Gauff became the first American teenager to win the US Open since Williams in 1999. As she said: “This young kid has just dethroned the Williams sisters, which was a big thing.”?The comments of Dubois also hinted at the constant growth of women.
Dubois also talked about an often overlooked aspect. She said: “I can’t imagine how tough it was – not just the actual playing, but the pressure to perform on such a massive stage. What she’s doing is amazing.”? Coco Gauff has single-handedly shaken women’s tennis this year.?

Coco Gauff’s achievement in 2023
Although the season is still not over until the WTA finals, Coco Gauff has already attained many feats. She defeated the then World’s No.1, Iga Swiatek to take the Cincinnati Open title. She also defeated the current World’s No.1, Aryna Sabalenka to take the US Open title.?
When it comes to the World rankings, being in the third spot, Coco Gauff is still behind Sabalenka and Swiatek. Although her rapid growth seems like enough proof that the champ will soon overtake the rankings as well.?
