Tennis hall of famer Martina Navratilova has successfully won numerous battles, both on and off the court and her career has been an inspiration to scores of her fans across the globe. After playing tennis for most of her life, Navratilova gracefully settled into the art of analysing tennis matches and is widely known for her clear thoughts on legends like Serena Williams, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal among others.
Personally, back in 2010, Navratilova faced a glaring reality with the identification of breast cancer. The Czech-born American vowed to successfully battle this demon and she proved to the world that anything is possible with sheer determination. Now, a decade after her recovery, the tennis legend announced yet another sad news to millions of fans across the globe.

Martina Navratilova announces sad cancer news to the tennis world
In a recent interview, Navratilova announced that she got recently diagnosed with Stage-1 throat cancer.
“This double whammy is serious but still fixable, and I’m hoping for a favorable outcome. It’s going to stink for a while, but I’ll fight with all have I got,” Navratilova revealed.
The last line indicates her sheer fighting spirit at the age of 66 and as a result, Martina will miss her Australian Open coverage as part of the Tennis Channel broadcast team.

Going to the story behind her throat cancer diagnosis, it was revealed that there was an enlarged lymph node in Navratilova’s throat during the WTA Finals back in November. After undergoing testing, doctors found that it was Stage-1 Throat and later stage 1 breast cancer. But, the good news is that according to reports, Martina was diagnosed with one of the more treatable cancers.
