Much to the delight of American tennis fans, Coco Gauff is currently having an incredible run of form on the court. Having won 2 tournaments within a span of just 3 weeks, the 19-year-old is enjoying what may very well be the best phase of her career so far. After winning the Citi Open title in Washington earlier this month followed by a quarterfinal run at the Canadian Open, Gauff clinched her maiden WTA 1000 title at the recently concluded Cincinnati Masters event.
As the final slam of the year knocks on the door, she looks as ready as ever heading into New York. However, the in-form teenager isn’t just thinking about her on-court endeavors as she prepares for the US Open. In a recent revelation, a candid Coco Gauff couldn’t hide her love for the city of New York. Here’s what she had to say.

Coco Gauff professes admiration for the city of New York ahead of US Open
Coming from a humble background, Gauff made her way to the top of professional women’s tennis. The young American is an inspiration to many aspiring tennis athletes. Born and brought up in Delray Beach in Florida, Gauff hasn’t shied away from expressing her love for the bustling larger-than-life aura of New York. After her Cincinnati Open triumph, she opened up on how the city of New York ‘never fails to amaze’ her.
“Times Square is my favorite place because you just think these people aren’t real. I’m from Delray Beach, so we don’t really have things like this going on. You know those memes, ‘This is just an every day in New York, you can tell who’s a tourist’? Well, I’m the tourist. I will look and stare because I’ve never seen half of it. It never fails to amaze me. I really love New York. I could never live there, but I love to visit”, she said in an exclusive with the Hologic WTA Tour.

Gauff in red-hot form as New York glory beckons
Coco Gauff is the player to beat on the WTA tour at the present moment. The world number 6 has won 11 of the last 12 matches she has played in. On the course of lifting the Western and Southern Open trophy in Cincinnati, she defeated world number 1 Iga Swiatek in the semifinals – a feat she achieved for the first time in 8 attempts.
In the final, she eased past Karolina Muchova with 6-3, 6-4 to clinch the biggest title of her career as of yet. Coco Gauff’s compatriot and doubles partner Jessica Pegula is the only player to beat her in the last 3 tournaments – at the quarter-finals of the Canadian Open.
