After being out of the tour for a year, Serena Williams finally made a comeback at the 2022 Wimbledon Championships. Even though she made a decent attempt, it just wasn’t enough to reach the second round. Suffering a first-round loss at Wimbledon for the first time in her career, the seven-time champion is back, enjoying time off the court with her family.

Given the leverage of a one-year break for Wimbledon, fans are hoping to see Williams at the 2022 US Open. While people continue to shower their utmost love on Serena, an official announcement of her presence at the US Open is still awaited. However, amid the dilemma, Serena’s childhood coach Rick Macci has dropped in his prediction, along with his advice for Serena at the upcoming US Open.
Rick Macci on how Serena Williams should approach Wimbledon
Going down memory lane, Rick Macci is one of the biggest contributors to Serena’s success. Macci, along with Richard Williams guided Serena during her formative years to be where she is today. Even though Macci and Serena don’t work together anymore, the two continue to share a warm bond with each other.

Like Serena, Macci is also a highly active social media user. Taking to his Twitter handle, Macci presents his views and opinions, largely related to the game. Recently, the director of the Rick Macci Tennis Academy took to his handle, giving his thoughts about Serena at the US Open.
Analyzing Serena’s game at Wimbledon, Macci suggested the way to go about in the coming weeks for Serena. Learning about Serena’s participation dilemma, he also presented his thoughts on it.
“Everybody once again is asking will Serena Williams play the U.S. OPEN. The next 7 weeks she needs to train like there is no tomorrow because if she does not there is no tomorrow. Serena i feel will play and be ready,” he wrote.

Serena at the US Open
Serena Williams won her first-ever Grand Slam title at the US Open in 1999. Two?decades on since then, and it continues to be at the top of the list of Serena’s favorite tournaments. Like Wimbledon, Serena has also achieved major success at the US Open.

To date, Williams has won a total of six US Open titles. First coming in 1999, she bagged the second in 2002. It was followed by another one in 2008. However, despite the three titles, the best was yet to come. Four years later, Serena started writing her name in the history books. Starting from 2012, she won three consecutive titles i.e. 2012, 2013, and 2014 at Flushing Meadows.

Apart from titles, she has also been a four-time runner-up and a four-time semi-finalist. With close to two months until the US Open, it would be a thing to see if Serena would be able to re-write history again this year.
