It was the year 1998. After a successful junior career, Serena Williams made her Grand Slam singles debut at the Australian Open that year. She showed signs of promise before bowing out in the second round against her elder sister, Venus Williams. It was the first sign of the legend in the making.

She didn’t have to wait for long before winning her first Grand Slam title. In the very next year, she clinched her maiden Grand Slam title at the US Open. Since then, she has added another 22 major titles to take her Grand Slam singles tally to 23 Grand Slam titles. Recently, she shared glimpses of her visit to an amazing place.

Serena Williams visits the world’s first Modern Olympics stadium

The former World Number 1 took to Instagram to share glimpses of her outing to the world’s first Modern Olympics stadium. Sharing a story on her official Instagram handle, she said, “This is the first Olympic Stadium. Modern, the first modern Olympic Stadium, and yeah, I remember playing here in the 1800s. That’s how long I’ve been playing and been on tour. Yup, yup. That’s a long time!”

Serena has been playing tennis professionally for around 27 years now. She turned pro in 1995. Her first professional tournament was in October that year at the Bell Challenge in Quebec. However, Serena, then just 14 years old, lost in the first qualifying round of that tournament, winning just two games.

Serena to feature at Black Tech Week in Cincinnati

Earlier this year, the American legend announced that she will feature in the Black Tech Week in Cincinnati as a keynote speaker. Announcing this news, Serena said, “Excited to be at @BlackTechWeek with (Lightship Foundation) this year as they empower Black founders everywhere.”
